Yard Smart likes to set itself apart from competitors when it comes to dethatching. We use a power dethatcher for dethatching lawns. Our staff is trained to operate these machines safely and effectively to remove the most thatch from your lawn while maintaining the integrity of your lawn. Many companies use an attachment dethatcher for their lawnmowers; this method does not provide the same results. You can find more information about dethatching below.

Thatch acts as a barrier to water, nutrients and air reaching the soil and should be removed to ensure a healthy lawn. A half-inch or more of thatch can weaken your lawn. After removal sun and water can better reach soil and grass roots.
PROCESS
Mark obstacles such as irrigation heads
Mow lawn at the lowest height possible without damaging grass
Power rake to loosen and uproot the thatch
Thatch debris is raked, blown, and removed
